ADVANTAGES

- The main advantage of the Euro is that once it is spreadall over the European  Union, we won’t have to  change themoney when we travel across it.

-The prices will be nearly the same in all the European Union.

- The Euro will be stronger than the old money and it will compete better against the  Yen and the Dollar.

- And if the Euro is stronger, the E.U. will get richer than ever.

DISADVANTAGES

- OK, the prices would be the same in the E.U., but, whatabout the salaries? The salaries wouldn’t be the same in all the countries. For example: in Spain the  salaries  will be lower than in Germany; and the prices here in Spain will rise.

- And in the common life, the families will  have to change their lifestyle and learn  to use a new currency, unknown to them up to now. And these families will have a lot  of additional expenses because of their lack of knowledge.

- Other disadvantages can be the substitution of the computerised and technological  systems by the new systems, the expenses because of the RR.HH., the training ofspecialists and employees of companies,the courses for students,etc ..
 

PERSONAL NOTE: We can say that the Euro has advantages and disadvantages, but if we’re realistic, we can say that once the problems that may arise when we start to use this currency are solved, the Euro will be a great invention and very positive for Europe.

These are some of the interviews we did to some tourists who were visiting Barcelona.We asked them about their opinion of the Euro:

1. Do you agree with the use of the Euro as a common currency/money in Europe?
A-Yes, I think it is going to be good for our economy
B-Yes, I agree.
C-No, I don’t.
D-Yes, I agree with it

2. Why?
A-Because it is going to be useful for everybody
B-Because our money could be stronger than the dollar and the yen
C-‘Cos I don’t want to change my money.
D-It will be a great change.

3. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of the Euro?
A-We can pay whith the same money in all the European Union.
A disadvantage would   be to have  to learn how to use the new money.
B-The prices could be nearly the same in all the E.U. The prices in some countries will become  more expensive.
C-I will be glad to know that I will have a powerful kind of money.I think my salary is  going to  be lower and the prices will be higher.
D- It will be a good change for the European Economy.
   Some people will not agree with the change.

4. Do you think the Euro will bring about and important change in the European economy?
A-Yes, I think so.
B-I don’t have enough information about this question, but I think so.
C-I think that the European Economy will change a lot.
D-Yes.

5. And what about in the everyday life?
A-Nowadays we use a coin, but the change of money will mean a difficult change in the everyday  life.
B-I will have problems using the Euro.
C-The everyday life could change but only a little.
D-It’s going to be the same.

6. Do you think that the Euro will be better for travelling?
A-Yes, because you won't have problems of changing money.
B-Yes, ‘cos the prices will be the same in all countries.
C-For example: If I travel to Spain it won't, but if I travel to a more expensive country I  think so.
D-Yes, I think so.

7. Spain is one of the cheapest countries in Europe, do you think it will still be one of the cheapest with the Euro?

A-Yes, I think it will still be cheap.
B-I don’t know.
C-Yes certainly.
D-No, it will possibly be more expensive.

8. Do you think that the Euro will be good for your country?
A-No, because I’m from the United Kindom.
B-No, I think that Spain will be more expensive.
C-Yes.
D-Yes, I think so.
