The Small Prince Congress
Fascinating, finally, the title of this Congress is in him only a challenge. Return in Ombrie after several years, from pretty hills and the small villages with sides of montagnes.
I was born in Città di Castello, and in front of my screen Word, Piero della Francesca and Duccio di Buoninsegna return to me to the spirit, famous representatives of Italy a little forgotten.

http://scuole.provincia.tr.it/ipsct tr/homepage.htm), equipped with 5 large data-processing workshops and telematics, one speaks about what gathers us: veneration of technologies or the man? And the voices are many.And to begin with that, persistent, of the Small Prince, Projet European (
http://www.petit-prince-euro.org) (financed by the UE), which implies 12 adherent nations in Euro, but with an effort of widening to the Eastern European countries and Russia in particular.We spoke about it in the issue of last June about IS.
About how many voices, which it is impossible of all to enumerate them, but with a common denominator: to incite for the use of new technologies in the schools but with a certain respect of the humanistic role of the teacher, pedagogue, guard of youth in becoming.
With the opening of the Congress, the Inspector of Education Office of Terni, the Mayor-Assistant in charge of the Public Instruction, the Mayor-Assistant in charge of the culture of the town of Narni, the Mayor of Amelia, the Headmaster of the Institute were present to testify to the deep interest expressed by the Institutions.
Without forgetting the organizing ones, which with a key of feminism and intense months of work, allowed this go international teachers representatives of 13 countries, of a significant Italian delegation and much of other famous guests: Maria Ludovica Santori (President Eurosésame Ombrie
mlsantor@tin.it ), Romana Bertini, Rita Carotti, Serenella D' Astoli, Matilde Cuccuini, Elisabetta Riveruzzi and Beatrice Lorenzoni, teaching in Terni, Narni and Amelia. This Congress which follows that of Sevres-Paris last July, one approaches a watershed for the Telematic European Association of the Teachers of Eurosésame ( http://www.eurosesame.org http://www.eurosesame.com, eurosesame@citi2.fr ), organizer, with 6 other Organizations and European Organizations of Projet.Depuis almost 20 years already, (at its beginnings with another initials), it militates for the expansion of new technologies in teaching, in the field of the humanism, and to which we are proud to form part.The group directing International has to renew the Presidency, until present behavior by the founder Robert Valette, of Paris. Who will remain honorary President.
It is precisely Robert, with his modesty and his vast culture, resulting from the Gateway Office of Teaching Studies of Sevres-Paris, (
http://www.ciep.fr), which began work on this topic. While being inspired abundantly by Proclamation of Eurosésame, and would deserve very much space in these columns.New Technologies (NT) can mean dire dehumanization, worship crown and idealization of machine. Which recommend one era of total mechanicalism.
The primacy being of man, of feeling, of ethics, of morals, of love and it must be so. The computer is an instrument that is necessary with this requirement, and certainly not to set up in monument. We who have fought for the introduction of telematics with school since the time of Vidéotel, less we not forget. We come from opposition to a school with only technique, robotized, merchandise. As with class virtual assign with some other form of artificial teaching source.

But it is not in our intention to transform this report into an unpleasant list. The official languages of the Congress are the Italian and the French. The translations of exposed and the debates are entrusted to our colleague Caroline Di Milla (

All the Projects are visualized on giant screen, some ones sound and readable on CD or directly on Internet.Without respecting the chronological order, let us enter the more significant aspects. The Slovak Colleague Màja Briestenskà (
majabr@miesto.sk ) presented a very beautiful project: The Star of Gold, thanks to which we have become acquainted with the Small Princess. Who expresses the currency of Saint-Exupéry perfectly " It is necessary to create links between the men " The project is divided into 3 parts, linked by the " leitmotiv " of the Small Princess.It represents messages of the pupils in Eurosésamis on the humanistic topics. Represents the countries of Slovaquie, its history, its castles. Indeed, the small princess is to create the purpose of a link between Europe Western and Eastern...
Is it not best to condense a beauty literary, humanistic, political and imaginative to begin a short " summary " of this Congress? Is it only about humanism? Not, that we speak about " NT ",New Technologies, and the series of workshops envisaged in the program clarifies it. It is worth drawing up a list immediately. To have an idea, in the way in which the Small Prince, VEHICULE his humanistic values. It is significant to also underline how the workshops were decentralized voluntarily fully by a country, while making it take part of many Schools and Institutes ·
Personally I always considered the complicated technique, when my computer does not function, I call upon an expert friend. The workshops were very useful, but also the atmosphere, lively, culturally lives, available and prepared, varied and ordered, sufficiently cosmopolitan. In all sincerity, that gives the impression to me to have taken part in this formidable Congress.

capitano@venus.it ). This being the largest experts in Telematics at the school at the national level.Professor Ruben Ibanez, of the I.U.F.M. (University Institute of Training of the Masters) (
ruben.ibanez@ac-versailles.fr), Saint-Germain Center in Bush hammer proposed a detailed hearing of the formation within the Academy of Versailles.But let us make a pause (perhaps too " humanistic?") the Small Prince requests from the Businessman: " How can one have stars? We can not, as we it like them illustrate in way adapt just like we can quote only some of the 20 representative European, in addition to 90 Italian and of all the guest "... The Small Prince is each one of us, when it is remove from its worm eaten box. This child forget and but smiles and goes with him, in search of a friend... "

The Core Minerve of the University of Evora in Portugal, on behalf of Professor Jose Luis Carvalho (

Finally let us point out, for all, the workshop for the translation in 42 languages, including the Japanese, the Arab and the Russian, of Primrose Publishing of Cambridge (England), with the program of Tick Tack (

The European Commission (Education and General Directorate Culture), in Terni was represented by Maria Kokkonen ( maria.kokkonen@cec.eu.int ), Project Manager, person in charge of Net@ is Europe ( http://www.netdays2000.org ) which made a rapid assessment of Netd@is 1999 by illustrating the finalities of this superb initiative:
Sensitizing with use of teaching of new media, Internet in particular, as mode of transmission and acquisition of knowledge and of knowledge, like instrument and resource teaching, for the education, the formation and the culture. Nicoletta Biferale ( nicbif@tin.it ) of the MPI ( http://www.istruzione.it ) presented the significant project language 2000, for the introduction of a second Community language into the school structure .Language 2000 met of work a series of innovating actions and in continuity in the three school cycles for learning/teaching of the living languages. The finality of the innovation is to learn how the living languages in order to acquire pragmatic and communicative competences throughout formative school course. The objective is to develop communicative competences of reception, communication, oral and written production, in connection with the segments of age and the progression of the courses.
The Headmaster Anna Paola Fraternale of Rome ( annapaof@tin.it ) have presented a hypertext multi-media very interesting on the " School school system of European Union ". La first leave be divide into 12 subject of presentation of system education. Every prone can be thorough for each Nation. For 8 subjects specific the 15 countries be approach globalement. It would be possible to himself differentiate between country Néolatins, Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian, and one can compare 4 countries in same temps.
There exists, moreover, one Glossary Multi-languages and a Dictionary of Technology educational, and for 12 country of sequence Video which illustrate the aspect of school structure . There is also a version English of hypertext.
Francesca Trani, of the I.S.F.O.L. (http://www.programma, leonardo.net ) presented the Program Leonardo, program of the European Union, which proposes to apply a policy of Professional Formation .
The program pursues three general goals:
Paola Coppi ( paola.coppi@posta.bdp.it ) of the Teaching Library of Documentation ( http://www.bdp.it ) illustrated the Socrates Project, instituted in 1995 by the treaty of Maastricht, which envisages the financing by the European Commission of Projects worked out in the schools.
One part of the Project, is managed by the National Agencies Socrates, in the various countries. Italian is the BDP of Florence.
Into the various sub-projects of Socrates that which interests the school instruction is " Comenius " Au term of the first phase, into 2001 Comenius, it will come into effect, divided into 3 parts: I - European Educational Projects; II - Personal Training of the Teacher; III - Networks themes.
The Agency selects and finances the decentralized actions, the fundamental criterion is " Internationality ", At least three schools of various Europeans countries must take part in it, of which Coordinator. The financings are 3000 Euros for this one and 2000 for the others. Thereafter, the results of this work will be evaluated by the Council of Institut. These topics vary: history, music, art, Nouvelles technologies...
